Privacy policy
Principles and no cookie banner
This website is static and uses no tracking cookies. We deliberately do not use a cookie banner because we do not set any consent-requiring cookies or trackers under § 25 TTDSG (German Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act). The legal basis for the processing described below is Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in consistent presentation, security and reach measurement) or, for the newsletter, Article 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent).
Controller under GDPR
Jochen Meyer, Altenburg 1, 96049 Bamberg, Germany.
Email: jochen@okay.cool.
A data protection officer is not required by law and has therefore not been appointed.
Hosting and server logs
The website is hosted on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, location Nuremberg, Germany). On every page request the web server (Caddy) writes technically necessary access data to a log:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- requested URL, HTTP status code and volume of data transferred
- referrer (the previously visited page, if transmitted)
- user agent (browser and operating system identifier)
Purpose: technical operation, defence against attacks, error
analysis.
Legal basis: Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure
and functional operation).
Retention: maximum 14 days, then automatic rotation and
deletion.
A data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR is in place with
Hetzner.
Reach measurement (Umami)
For anonymous, cookie-free reach measurement we use Umami, an open-source analytics software self-hosted on the same server in Germany. No personal profiles are created and the Umami statistics are not passed to third parties; IP addresses are used only in anonymised form for counting and are not stored. No cookies are set.
Legal basis: Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in reach
measurement).
Retention: aggregated statistics for a maximum of 12 months.
Web fonts (Adobe Fonts)
For a consistent typographic presentation we use Adobe Fonts (Adobe
Systems Software Ireland Limited, 4-6 Riverwalk, Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24,
Ireland; parent company: Adobe Inc., 345 Park Avenue, San Jose, CA 95110-2704, USA).
When you load a page, the font files are fetched from Adobe's servers (including
use.typekit.net and p.typekit.net). Your browser transmits
the following data to Adobe:
- IP address
- user agent (browser and operating system identifier)
- referrer (the requested URL on our site)
Purpose: delivery of the web fonts to ensure a consistent and
typographically coherent presentation.
Legal basis: Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
Self-hosting of Adobe Fonts is not permitted under the Adobe licence; delivery via
Adobe's servers is technically the only option.
Transfer to third countries: Adobe may transfer data to the United
States. The transfer is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs); Adobe is
certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Retention: according to Adobe's privacy policy.
Right to object: You may object to this processing under Article 21
GDPR; browser add-ons such as uBlock Origin or disabling web fonts in your
browser will block the Adobe requests entirely without rendering the site
unusable.
